’tzwarttafeltje concert

Thursday 27th November – Clangdelum Cinematographica
Sunday 30th November - ‘tzwarttafeltje concert

Invited by the festival Música Estranha! Encontro Internacional de Música Exploratória Hans Beckers will perform Clangdelum Cinematographica in the Red Bull Performance hall in Sao Paulo and ’tzwarttafeltje concert at the Casa Moderna in Sao Paulo.

Clangdelum Cinematographica is an interaction of image, sound and live performance using the numerous video and sound recordings Hans Beckers made in Belgium and abroad. Looking for places where image en sound meet in intriguing ways he visited memorable locations in Hungary, Romania, Croatia, China, Indonesia …. Fascinating objects, machines, natural phenomena and authentic personalities have been captured, keeping the focus on the sound of things and beings.

These recordings are the basis for a visual and musical composition projected on three screens: an audiovisual triptych. Environmental sounds, objects and machines become the instruments for which a composition is written. The musicality and poetics of the daily is revealed in a contemporary way.

The viewer is taken on a journey through a very particular universe, where notions of time and space are effaced, where a play with association and dissociation take place, with recognizability and abstraction.

During this stay in Sao Paulo Hans Beckers will also develop a new version of ’tzwarttafeltje concert with two Brazilian based musicians, Gabriel Levy and Thomas Rohrer.

‘tzwartetafeltje concert is a format for visual, performative music performances with which own compositions by Hans Backers and collaborations with other musicians or ensembles.
