Roel Heremans - Room C

don 21/05/2015 - 12:00 > 16:00

Roel Heremans (BE) studied Radio at RITCS in Brussels and ArtScience Interfaculty in The Hague. In his work he seeks for hybrid artistic forms in between performance, sound art, conceptual art, imagination, radio and literature. He is currently focused on a series of works titled Room #.

In Room C the viewer is invited to enter a room and stand on one of the white crosses on the floor.

Via headphones the viewer is instructed to close his/her eyes and imagine various situations. The mental images vary from abstract to very personal.

Every now and again the viewer/listener may open his/her eyes and move to another cross. In this way the participants sometimes end up standing directly opposite one another.

The combination of an individual’s imagination and the spatial composition created by the participants’ movement through the space creates a play of introspection, reflection and projection.

Reconstruction and the perception of time and space are also at the heart of this work.

Each participant is given different instructions whereby alternative compositions and experiences are created each time.
