A Pearl Anniversary for Chernobyl

Inspired by the 30th birthday of the Chernobyl-disaster, a pseudo scientific historical mythical researching team travelled to Ukraïne in April 2016. In Kiev they attended the official commemoration and in Pripyat and Chernobyl, the location of the disaster, they looked for measurable and distinguishable results of years of high radiation. Their knowledge of Chernobyl has by now taken on mythical proportions and naïve inquietudes: deformed bodies, rats with three heads, humans with six arms and glow in the dark bushes.

After these events they followed the path of the radioactive cloud through Europe. They stopped in different cities: Kiev (in cooperation with Les Kurbas Centre), Pinsk, Warschau, Lodz, Leipzig and Brussels. The victims of the disaster were interviewed, passers by were asked about their experience of the events at the time and what the influence has been on their lives. The research takes place in a professional unprofessional equipped tent. They call it: the Mobile Laboratory.

Expectations are that after the research travel they will be making theater, but the outcome could also be a book, an exhibition, a movie, a parade float or an opera.
