Varinia Canto Vila - (working title)

maa 14/08/2017 > vri 25/08/2017

In (working title) two figures, two women, two bodies are committed in an exercise of reaching out to surfaces. The surface of their own bodies, the surface of the floor that is under their feet or even the walls of a building. The performers are aiming at testing borders, limits and passages to other territories in order to blur, unite or destroy them, while constantly asking themselves: “Where are we now?”. (working title) will develop a landscape of actions that could be seen haptically (by means of the sense of touch). It wants to be a tactile celebration of our mess and our failure to make sense.

Varinia Canto Vila is trying to understand what happens with our body and with our experience of the environment we live in, when our visual field is overloaded with stimuli of various kinds. Inspired by the notion of collage, Varinia develops a visual and physical landscape which gives shape to a multitude of signs, codes and ideologies. What happens when textures conflate, shift, change and rupture? How do we navigate across them as viewers?
