Mowgli - Sorour Darabi

mon 22/03/2021 > sun 28/03/2021

Mowgli is the new creation of the Iranian artist Sorour Darabi. The starting point of this work is the title itself - taken from a PNL song - where the reference to the jungle denounces the ever-present projection of savagery on the bodies of young citizens with an immigrant background. But the image of the jungle also invites to be reappropriated from within; the possibility of inventing a different law, opposed to that of the city. The piece takes place in the darkness of a fictitious night where choreography, poetry, stories, tales, the words of the Iranian singer Googoosh and those of PNL intersect. Through these experiences, Sorour Darabi weaves together real and fantasized stories, crossing the themes of the chosen family and melancholy. Devenir sauvage (Becoming wild) is a political project.
